Mesh Pads are knitted mesh blankets made from metal or plastic wire, designed for the efficient and cost-effective removal of entrained liquid droplets from gas streams. Galiakotwala Engineering designs and fabricates mesh pads in any required size for installation in new or existing process vessels. Typically, they are installed so that gas flows upward through the pad.

How It Works

Vapor and entrained liquid droplets enter mesh blankets positioned between support grids. Vapor passes through easily, while droplets—due to their inertia—collide with the wire surfaces. The droplets coalesce, grow in size, and flow downward along the mesh. They collect at the bottom and fall into the unit, leaving the vapor stream nearly free of moisture.

Material of Construction

Galiakotwala Engineering manufactures Mesh Pads from a wide range of conventional and specialty materials, including:

  • Stainless Steel (316 L, 304 L, and more)
  • Polypropylene and other Polyolefins
  • PTFE, ETFE and other Homopolymers
  • Alloy 20 and other speciality Alloy
  • CorFre (SX) (most preferred material for Sulphuric Acid applications)
  • CorFre A6

We can also manufacture mesh pads based on customer-specified materials for special applications.

Collection Efficiency and Pressure Drop

  • Mesh Pads exhibit good collection efficiencies in the range of 2 to 30 microns.
  • Pressure drop ranges from 5mm WC to 100mm WC, depending on the design of the Mesh Pads.

Specialty Mesh Pads

Corrosion-Resistant
Type Mesh Pad

  • Made from CorFre® A6, a high-performance alloy designed to withstand a wide range of corrosive liquids.
  • Offers long service life in any environment with no shrinkage issues.

Low Corrosion CorFre® (SX) Type Mesh Pad

  • CorFre® (SX) is an alloy specifically developed for use with concentrated Sulphuric Acid.
  • Over 50 Sulphuric Acid Plants have upgraded to this Mesh Pad, making it a preferred material of choice.
  • Delivers long life in Sulphuric Acid applications with zero shrinkage problems.

High Efficiency Type Mesh Pad

  • Achieves 99% efficiency in capturing particles as small as 2 microns.
  • Combines the advantages of both Candle Filters and Mesh Pads for superior performance.
